On January 20, 2009, the United States and the world witnessed the swearing in of the first African American President. More importantly, we were told that President Barack Obama was the first post-partisan, post-racial president whose eloquent words would unite nations the way no other president has done before him – especially George W. Bush.
At least that’s what we were told.
Fast forward just a few short months into Barack Obama’s presidency: we know that President Obama’s words and actions don’t match up with the fairy tale world that the media painted for us.
This site points out the amazing lack of attention to President Obama and his administration’s errors, thanks to the continued fawning from the media, even though they have made and continue to make mistakes. There is a glaring double standard when it comes to reporting current and past administrations.
In other words, what would happen if George Bush did any or all of the things that this administration has done? You know the answer.
Though it may seem unproductive to ask the question (“What if Bush did it?”), there is a reason for continuing to ask it: President Obama and his administration continue to blame Bush for their failures (unemployment beyond 8.5%; stimulus hasn’t created any jobs; quadrupling the debt), and the complicit media covers up or downplays these failures. At the same time, the fawning media over-hypes any positive achievements.
Until the media does their job, this blog will continue to report the ridiculous double standard.
