One of my favorite candidates from 2010 who didn’t win office, Nick Popaditch, is running for Congress in 2012, in California’s 53rd district. He’ll announce his campaign and outline his agenda at a rally a week from today .

The Christian Science Monitor – President Obama last month moved the proposed Keystone XL oil pipeline to the bottom of his agenda. This week House Republicans took action to move it back to the top.
Newt Gingrich as well as Herman Cain when he was still in the race (yet oddly, not Michele Bachmann) have drawn criticism for selling books while campaigning. Many saw it as a way for the candidates to simply advance media careers or make money off running for president. Gingrich is continuing to sell books. It’s the only item on his agenda for Friday, according to the New York Times. But he says it’s simply because he’s enlightening American minds. Mr. Gingrich said that book sales, far from a distraction, effectively conveyed his views and values. They are “the cultural wing of what we’re doing,” he said in an interview. “I am a cultural teacher, with a political campaign to change a government. And that’s how I see myself.” Who buys that? For $25 per copy, you can.

**Written by Doug Powers You probably guessed it: Raise taxes. Oh, and spend less — but without a doubt that last part isn’t on the agenda : “All I know is, whenever you have any type of a problem and the problem is one that you spend more than you are actually bringing in then you have to bring in more and spend less. It just makes so much sense…” Rangel has been doing his part by going out of his way to spend less — on his taxes . Watch the latest video at video.foxbusiness.com That’s not a large tie Rangel’s wearing — it’s an anti-compunction collar, and it works like a charm. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe
