Mark Burnett , the same guy who produced ” Sarah Palin ‘s Alaska,” says reports from last week that the former Republican veep nominee is pitching a reality show starring her husband Todd are false. The report said Sarah was shopping a show to networks that would highlight her husband’s snowmobiling career. “That is totally inaccurate,” Burnett told the New York Post . “In fact, the idea around snowmobiling was to be part of an episode in ‘Sarah Palin’s Alaska’ — not a series.” The truth is, Burnett is currently pitching a second season of “Alaska” to TLC, despite the show not getting a green light as its debut season ended earlier this year. If he gets the go-ahead, he says the show would shoot in summer of 2012.

Palin Won’t Run for President
Almost everyone has heard about Alaska’s now infamous ” bridge to nowhere ” — the $400 million project mocked as a model of government waste that was supposed to connect Ketchikan to its airport on the sparsely-populated Gravina Island. Well now it has a rival, again in Alaska, called the ” runway for no one .” In short, officials are spending $64 million on a runway on an uninhabited island between the Bering Sea and the Pacific Ocean. In fact, in order to get to and from the runway, nearby residents of Akutan will have to take a helicopter or a hovercraft — a mode of transportation that could be problematic in the rough waters.

Ladies: Want highlights like Sarah Palin ? Can’t have ‘em. “Nobody gets her formula,” says Jessica Steele , owner of Wasilla’s Beehive Beauty Shop, in the first episode of a new reality show centered on the salon. Steele is credited with giving Palin the famous up-do that we all came to know and love back in 2008, according to the Atlantic. The style was chosen by Palin for more practical reasons, according to Steele. Palin didn’t want her earrings to “get stuck in her hair when people give her hugs and stuff,” says Steele. The 30 minute show, titled “Big Hair Alaska” debuts on TLC at 10pm Tuesday night. h/t The Hill
