Yesterday was a big day. I had a full teaching schedule. And then after classes I stayed in Long Beach until late afternoon, before driving up to the Westwood campus. Tammy ‘s speech was pretty good. Well, the big surprise of the day, at Politico: ” Tom Petty wants Bachmann to lay off ‘American Girl’ .” It would be another way in which a GOP candidate could compare themselves to Ronald Reagan, who Bruce Springsteen called out for using “Born in the USA” as a campaign song. And at Raw Story , ” Tom Petty reportedly issuing cease and desist letter to Bachmann ” (via Memeorandum ).

‘American Girl’
After suffering a stroke last week, the saxophone player for Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Clarence Clemons has passed away today, June 18, 2011. He was 69 years old. This live version of the Springsteen classic ‘Jungleland’ features a typical Clemons sax solo presence, including a powerful solo that kicks in at about 4:20. Farewell, Big Man.
