Very interesting and intriguing ……Raining money, chains, true artistic expression, deep. Controversial…a little bit. Actually very tasteful and I especially enjoy the “thriller mystery” music score in the background. It explains itself, but for those that can’t watch videos…here is the paintings. Regardless of whether you completely agree with his entire

Obamacare is worth getting angry about — Did Mitt Romney miss the entire 2010 election?

Obamacare is worth getting angry about — Did Mitt Romney miss the entire 2010 election?

As mentioned earlier on  The Blaze , Rep. Allen West (R-FL) has come under fire for some strongly worded remarks he made over the weekend. Bob Beckel of Fox News’  The Five , for example, has condemned Rep. West’s comments as “disgraceful,” “despicable,” and “disgusting.” Naturally, since Rep. West’s comments have made headlines, major media outlets have been fighting to get some face time with the controversial Congressman. First up was Soledad O’Brien   of  CNN’s Starting Point .  O’Brien played a clip of Rep. West’s “get the hell out” remarks, then said: “I don’t get it. I mean, I don’t understand what you’re saying. Which is… you’re telling Obama and Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi to get out of the United States. Explain it to me.” “No, Soledad. Soledad. Absolutely not. And you know that,” Rep. West replied. “No, I truly — no joke. I am not being facetious. I do not get what you’re saying.” “Well the thing is,” West explained, “you should have listened to the entire speech. You didn’t listen to the entire speech which talked about the contrast between the quality of opportunity which allowed a young man born in 1961 in the inner city of Atlanta Georgia to now represent the highest-income zip code in the entire United States of America. That’s the America that I love, that’s the America that’s dear to me.” West concluded his remarks by inviting O’Brien to come to south Florida and read the Federalist papers and Constitution with him. “As fun as that sounds, the two of us sitting down and reading the Federalist papers together,” O’brien giggled. “No, I’ll stick to the TV interviews with you if you don’t mind.” See the Congressman’s exchange with O’brien via Mediaite : Later in the morning, when  Fox and Friends  asked the Congressman about Bob Beckle’s freak-out, Rep. West explained, “If you go back and read the transcript of the message that I gave, it was about equality of achievement, about economic dependency, it was about enslaving the American entrepreneur well in spirit. That message needs to leave this country.” He went on to say that if anyone watched that entire speech they would understand that he’s talking about “a contrast of visions in this country.” “I think Bob Beckel owes me an apology for saying that he would not refer to me as a Congressional representative nor as a Lieutenant Colonel Retired,” West said. See the Fox and Friends exchange via Fox Nation: Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com Of course, once Beckel caught wind of Rep. West’s suggestion, he scoffed at the very thought of dialing back his rhetoric. “Mr. West,” Beckel said, “Let me just tell you, if you’ve got enough time you can wait, but I am not going to apologize to you.” Going around the table, Beckel asked his co-hosts if they thought he should apologize. For some reason, some of Beckel’s associates became squeamish and responded to his question with non-committal answers. “In the end, Beckel declared the situation over, saying that West has one position and he has his own. There wasn’t, however, any apology,” writes Mediaite’s  Jon Bershad . Watch The Five’s discussion via Mediaite :

This is a controversial appointment. The college’s announcement is here: ” LBCC Announces New VP of Academic Affairs .” But see the Long Beach Press-Telegram , ” New Long Beach college official resigned from previous job over controversial songs “: LONG BEACH — Long Beach City College has hired a new vice president who resigned from his position as president of a Modesto junior college last year over controversial song lyrics that appeared on his personal website. Gaither Loewenstein will assume duties as LBCC’s vice president of academic affairs on March 1, according to a statement from LBCC President Eloy Oakley. Loewenstein, who also is a singer-songwriter, resigned from his position as president of Modesto College in May after some of his provocative folk song lyrics became public knowledge, according to the Modesto Bee, which reported the story last year. Loewenstein’s music website, which has since been taken down, provided samples of more than 100 songs written during his 30 years as a musician. His stage name is Gaither Drake. His lyrics range from traditional subjects, such as love and marriage, to more controversial topics including homosexuality, drug use, sexual infatuation and heavy drinking. In a song entitled “Dear Amtrak,” in which Loewenstein complains about a train trip to Portland, he writes, “Your railroad is the (expletive deleted) – they got better service on the way to Auschwitz.” In another song entitled “Dysfunctional Family Christmas,” he includes the line, “We’ll go broke and snort some coke as the holiday grows near.” In the song entitled, “My Best Friends,” Loewenstein sings about how all of his female friends are lesbians. He includes the verse, “Don’t you know that my best friends are lesbians, it’s true. And if I didn’t have a (expletive deleted), than I’d probably be one too.” His self-published debut album was released in 2000. His music is available on Myspace.com and iTunes. Loewenstein told the Modesto Bee last year that he understood why people would be offended by some of the lyrics and said the lyrics were inappropriate for someone in his position. “I think that as long as you are flying below the radar in lower level administrative positions, you are free to pursue your private hobbies and endeavors,” he said. “But once you are named president of a college, there is a responsibility not just to yourself but the college.” Loewenstein’s getting hammered in the comments at the link . For example, from Monica Blumenfield : It’s despicable our local community college hires an idiot who says Jews on the train to Auschwitz were given good service. Has he forgotten those trains sent millions of Jews to their deaths? Get rid of him, or does Supt. Oakley and the rest of LBCC Boards support Lowenstein’s anti-Semitic views? No, they don’t support his views — or at least there’s no evidence of that. The buzz among the faculty, however, is that Dr. Loewenstein was hired as a hatchet man for Eloy Oakley. Modesto cut whole departments under Dr. Loewenstein’s leadership, including the journalism program. See: ” Modesto College Cuts Journalism – 2011 “: Modesto Junior College administration’s drastic cuts to several popular programs, including the elimination of the entire mass communications department, are at best driven by hopeless ignorance and at worst designed to silence student voices at the school. In late February, MJC President Gaither Loewenstein proposed cutting the mass communications department, along with the faculty adviser to student government, as a solution to the college’s projected $8 million deficit for 2011-12 fiscal year. Despite opposition from the entire college community and an offer from faculty to take pay cuts

Daily Caller – On Thursday, testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on the Fast and Furious gun-walking scandal, Attorney General Eric Holder debated the definition of lying with Wisconsin Republican Rep. Superfrauds

On November 24, 2011, in barack obama, Health Care, Uncategorized, by

Our government has the time to worry about school lunch menus in Boise, Idaho, but the Senate hasn’t found the time to pass a budget in Washington, D.C., in nearly three years. H.L. Mencken famously wrote that every decent man is ashamed of his government. This one gives you little choice.

Lockstep

Gridlock is ordinarily the most constructive and moral form of government, but with entitlement programs on autopilot self-destruct, we’re in trouble. So Americans turned their weary eyes toward a dream team, a supercommittee, a 12-member panel of our brightest lights , charged with identifying a measly $1.2 trillion in deficit savings over 10 years. Save us. Alas, for Democrats, it boiled down to the most important issue facing the nation — maybe ever: “revenue enhancement.” Politico reported that during the supercommittee hearing, both sides agreed to produce “wish lists” to offer some notion of where negotiations might go. Republicans — believe them or not — claimed to want to save $700 billion by block granting Medicaid, another $400 billion in spending cuts, $1.4 trillion in cuts to some mandatory health care programs, and about $150 billion in cuts to the federal workforce. Democrats, on the other hand, reportedly wanted to pass a new $447 billion spending bill (perhaps forgetting that this was a wish list for a deficit   reduction committee) and $1 trillion in tax hikes on those 1-percenters. Since Washington spent $1 trillion more than it took in just last year, this would provide nearly no purpose over 10 years — well, other than a political one. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid — taking a break from fending off fictional goblins, Kochs and Norquists — laid out his position , explaining that Republicans had undermined the entire process by insisting “on expanding President Bush’s tax giveaways to millionaires.” The good Lord, you see, created every dollar for the U.S. Treasury to spend wisely; what you keep is a gift — a giveaway. Every tax cut is temporary, and every tax increase is a new base line. That’s just how it works. And the good senator from Nevada must be making a compelling case. A new poll by Quinnipiac University claims that 44 percent of Americans blame Republicans for the supercommittee’s failure, whereas 38 percent blame Democrats. This, notwithstanding the fact that the same poll shows, by a 49-39 percent margin, Americans prefer closing the deficit with spending cuts only. (That is what democracy looks like.) The committee’s failure allegedly means that an automatic $1.2 trillion in cuts should kick in. It won’t happen. Some Republicans are already grousing about defense cuts, and the newly involved Barack Obama — the guardian of frugality — has warned Congress that he would veto any cuts to the automatic cuts. Will anyone slash any defense spending before an election? Doubtful. Granted, the GOP talks a big game about reform but offers very little in the way of specifics. Republicans do, however, deserve credit for stopping tax increases until both parties start the discussion on entitlement reform. One side doesn’t define what compromise should look like. The supercommittee’s failure is victory because any so-called compromise would have meant the institution of tax hikes, and spending cuts would only be as good as the next Congress’ emergency or new priority. But everyone understands that this entire process was theater. If members of Congress, with a $15 trillion debt and a trillion-dollar yearly deficit, can’t find $1.2 trillion to cut in 10 years, the only reason is they aren’t serious. ——————- Follow on Twitter @ davidharsanyi .
