AP – Voters in Tuesday’s Florida Republican primary chose Mitt Romney as the candidate best able to beat President Barack Obama in the fall, preferring electability over ideology in lifting the former Massachusetts governor to a broad victory despite concerns that his issue positions are not conservative enough.

ContributorNetwork – COMMENTARY | President Barack Obama is making a proposal that would withhold federal money from colleges and universities that are unable to control rising tuition costs, according to ABC News. As a political/business consultant, I cannot stand with the president on this issue as the penalty for the problem would cause a worse problem for students. While the goal of keeping tuition costs down is strong, the end will not justify the means.

If you’ve had the displeasure of searching Rick Santorum ‘s name on Google, you know about his so-called ” Google problem .” It’s a sticky situation that has dogged Santorum since 2003. It started when he answered a question about gay marriage in an interview with the Associated Press. Sex columnist Dan Savage, who is gay, took offense and started a contest to redefine “Santorum.” The winning definition was gross and it remains the top Google search result for the candidate’s last name. In an interview with the Huffington Post his eldest child, 20-year-old Elizabeth , commented on the issue. “That just makes me sad. It’s disappointing that people can be that mean,” she said. “That’s really the first thing that comes to mind, it’s hurtful. But it’s okay, we just try and focus.”

Hardware retail giant Lowe’s has pulled its commercials from all future episodes of TLC’s reality TV show “All-American Muslim,” the chain said this week. The conservative Florida Family Association has been leading a campaign to get retailers to pull their advertisements from the show. On Tuesday, it posted an email from a Lowe’s representative who said Lowe’s will no longer be advertising during “All-American Muslim,” which chronicles the lives of several Muslim-American families living in Dearborn, Mich. “While we continue to advertise on various cable networks, including TLC, there are certain programs that do not meet Lowe’s advertising guidelines, including the show you brought to our attention. Lowe’s will no longer be advertising on that program,” the Lowe’s representative said. In a post on its official Twitter feed Friday, Lowe’s wrote in response to another tweet: “We did not pull our ads based solely on the complaints or emails of any one group. It is never our intent to alienate anyone.” A Lowe’s spokeswoman later elaborated to the Hollywood Reporter , saying, “We understand the program raised concerns, complaints or issues from multiple sides of the viewer spectrum, which we found after doing research of news articles and blogs covering the show. We based our decision to pull the advertising on this research and after hearing the concerns we received through emails, calls, through social media and in news reports.” A TLC spokeswoman declined to comment to the Hollywood Reporter on the issue, but said, “There is strong advertising support for the show.” The Florida Family Association, which called the show “propaganda that riskily hides the Islamic agenda’s clear and present danger to American liberties and traditional values,” has been encouraging supporters to email retailers whose commercials have aired during the show. The group claimed it has not seen this strong a response to any other issue in its 23 years of existence. You can view a list of the retailers it’s targeting here . Lowe’s decision to pull its ads garnered several angry responses online: One Twitter user who goes by the name @LawyerAsif wrote : “your actions did alienate people and you knew it would. Will you next consider KKKs demands to pull ads from BET?” Twitter user @Renstr81 wrote : “Racism is alive and strong in the 21st century. Won’t be shopping here!”

But there’s a massive ethnic split on the issue. See, ” Survey finds ethnic divide among voters on DREAM Act “: Many Californians worry that they are being priced out of the state’s public university systems, and they object to allowing illegal immigrants the same financial aid that U.S. citizens can receive at the campuses, a new poll has found. Fifty-five percent of the voters questioned said they oppose a new state law known as the California DREAM Act. It will permit undocumented students who graduated from California high schools and meet other requirements to receive taxpayer aid to attend the University of California, Cal State and community colleges starting in 2013. Forty percent support it. But there is a huge ethnic divide on the issue, according to the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times survey: 79% of Latinos approve of the law, while only 30% of whites do. “There are not a lot of other issues on which there are such huge differences,” said Manuel Pastor, a USC professor of American studies and ethnicity. Partly, he said, it’s easier for many Latinos, because they may know more undocumented people, to “understand the potential of someone who lacks papers but can really contribute to America.” But there are pocketbook factors too, especially in rough economic times, said Pastor, director of USC’s Center for the Study of Immigrant Integration. The poll shows that more Latinos than whites feel they may be unable to afford a university education; they may be more likely to support aid for all needy students, he said. The bipartisan survey found that a narrow majority of registered Democrats, 53%, support the new policy, which was signed into law last month by a fellow Democrat, Gov. Jerry Brown. But only 23% of Republicans do. “I don’t think illegal aliens should have any benefits in this country,” said respondent Lois Hartman, 64, a Republican who is a retired database supervisor from Downey. As for arguments that many students were brought to the U.S. as babies and had no choice about where they were raised, she said, “Their parents should have thought about that. I don’t have any sympathy for them.” On the other hand, Andrew Haesloop, 25, a Democrat from San Carlos, supports the DREAM Act. Its costs ultimately will be offset, he reasoned, by the higher taxes paid by students who land better jobs because they had the opportunity for a college education. “It’s a benefit that could encourage these people to become contributing members of society,” said Haesloop, an admissions counselor at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont. The Democrat Party is clearly the party of illegal immigration. And the Democrats have a chokehold on California, obviously, since the state’s basically one big open-borders sanctuary. It’s a freakin’ joke.

ContributorNetwork – COMMENTARY | A government subcontractor has testified, according to Fox News, about how the Obama Administration pressured his firm to “soften” job loss numbers in a report investigating the impacts of a piece of potential legislation. ECSI, the subcontractor, also claims that their contract was not renewed due to not wanting to fabricate evidence. As a former political consultant, I find this issue very interesting.

Welcome to Tech at Night, the series the radical left says is shaping the debate . I sure hope I am. After losing on Net Neutrality and on the America Invents Act, I’d like to get a win. The next chance for a win is in the House, which is debating SOPA , the bill that would create a national censorship blacklist online . Helping to lead the fight against SOPA is actually Google, who joins with other firms to oppose the bill . I know. Whodathunkit? But they’re right on this one, which is why we’re seeing weird things like Darrell Issa stick up for Google as the firm becomes a scapegoat for foreign infringers . Tumblr has joined the fight , encouraging you to contact your member of Congress while the site draws attention to the issue . It sure is nice to see the digital libertarians outraged over this issue . I think it’s funny they weren’t so outraged about Washington ignorance when the Net Neutrality debate came up, but I guess I’ll take what I can get on this issue. Ultimately, the reason we need to defeat SOPA is that we don’t want to feed into the lefty Media Reform crowd’s goal to control the Internet . Remember the Internet Kill Switch idea? SOPA is a *selective* kill switch. No. No. No. I mean, seriously. Someone explain to me why we’re even having SOPA hearings even as Greg Walden, Adam Kinzinger, and a saner committee are fighting regulation by pushing comprehensive FCC reform . Meanwhile, the Authors Guild proves just why we should oppose copyright holders on SOPA by demonstrating their anti-customer, anti-innovation stance against Amazon. Jay Rockefeller proves why we should oppose new regulation by again proving Obama-era regulation is merely a punitive tool against the successful , in this case the FTC against Facebook. Here’s a not-safe-for-work link that’s pretty important for people to see. Behold the Party Van , a hub of Anonymous/Anarchist/Communist Internet hacking and attacking online. Regulation won’t stop people like this. New laws won’t protect people from this kind of cybersecurity threat and online terrorism. Law enforcement will. Quit passing new laws and just put the bad guys in jail the way we used to for crime.
