**Written by Doug Powers Of all the things I feared hearing this morning, including “oops, we goofed, Alan Grayson actually won” and “I’ve never seen a patient who got poison ivy there , Mr. Powers,” something like this was at the top of the list : Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), who will have far-ranging subpoena power in the new Congress as a result of Tuesday’s election, is going out of his way to dispel perceptions that he’s a partisan bombthrower who plans to use his newfound authority to paralyze President Barack Obama’s administration. “I want to prove the pundits wrong. My job is not to bring down the president. My job is to make the president a success ,” Issa said on a midnight conference call with reporters, just after House Minority Leader John Boehner’s victory speech. My Slurpee just boiled over. It’s the Democrats who are supposed to shove the olive branch , Rep. Issa — we don’t want you to serve your own to them complete with a candlelight dinner and a lightly chilled bottle of chardonnay. That isn’t what yesterday was about. As you can see, this isn’t going to be easy. Update: Issa’s last three tweets : About last night 4: “About last night 1, 2, and 3″ are meaningless if the focus is remotely on “making the president a success” or “proving the pundits wrong.” **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Boehner Blasts Obama: He Sees ‘Enemies’ — I See ‘Patriots’
Though President Obama is now backing away a bit from labeling his political opponents as “enemies,” House Minority Leader John Boehner didn’t hesitate to seize the moment Monday night, pointing out the president’s flawed logic: While he backs away from the word “enemies,” the president seems to stand by the idea of “punishing” his political opponents.

NBC News Tries to Link Allen West to ‘Outlaws’ Biker Gang
**Written by Doug Powers In 2007 and 2008, the media went all-out to expose Barack Obama’s past connections with controversial people and organizations (pause for laughter) , so now they’re setting their unbiased sights on the background of Republican Florida congressional candidate Allen West. Lisa Myers goes out of her way to try and strengthen some fairly weak links here. Most of these ties are looser than the ones on my son’s sneakers, and if West was a Democrat, a story with this kind of “evidence” probably wouldn’t have gotten the green-light (if it had even been produced in the first place): Visit msnbc.com for breaking news , world news , and news about the economy Coming up next on NBC News: Photos of Allen West folding white sheets at the laundromat link Tea Party favorite to the Ku Klux Klan. Naturally, the DCCC is passing Myers’ story around like a joint in Willie Nelson’s tour bus: Tonight, NBC News’ Lisa Myers reports that Allen West (FL-22) has ties to an infamous motorcycle gang, the Outlaws. On Monday, Republican Leader John Boehner campaigned with Tea Party darling Allen West (FL-22). The Justice Department has said that the Outlaws produce and distribute methamphetamine, and engage in other criminal activities including arson, homicide, and prostitution. [Justice Department, National Gang Threat Assessment 2009, Published January 2009, accessed 9/13/10] This past Monday, Republican Leader John Boehner was raising money for Allen West in Florida. This past Tuesday, NRCC Executive Director Guy Harrison touted West’s candidacy. Republican leaders, including Eric Cantor and Sarah Palin, support Allen West. Allen West is just the latest Republican candidate with an extremely disturbing past that Republican Leader Boehner and the NRCC have promoted. There you have it. Not only is Allen West an Outlaw, but now so are John Boehner, Sarah Palin and Eric Cantor. I missed Lisa Myers “guilt by association” stories when it came to things like this (which is understandable, because she’s been too busy helping sell the stimulus failure as a rousing success ): (h/t The Blaze ) **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe
