In Quinnipiac’s Connecticut survey , the good news for Republicans is that the news for Obama is bad. The bad news for Republicans is that the news for Democrats is good. Connecticut voters are divided 48 – 48 percent on President Barack Obama’s job approval, down from 53 – 44 percent approval June 15 and the president’s lowest grade ever in the state. There is a large gender gap as women approve 52 – 42 percent while men disapprove 54 – 43 percent. By a slim 49 – 46 percent, voters say the president deserves reelection. Linda McMahon vs. Joe Lieberman in 2012?

On December 14, 2010, in Uncategorized, by If Bush Did It

I think a lot of Connecticut Republicans ended up impressed with Linda McMahon as a Senate candidate; her effort ended up to be a lot more than a well-funded celebrity vanity campaign. She lost by 12 percentage points, but that gap started as high 30 to 40 points in some polls . Her 498,341 votes were the most for a Republican in a Senate race since Lowell Weicker in 1988, and she forced the DSCC to commit nearly $2 million in funds in this state. Joe Lieberman, the independent-who-caucuses-with-Democrats, is up for reelection in 2012. The latest : In case anyone thought Linda McMahon's political aspirations had been quenched by her $50 million losing bid for the U.S. Senate in 2010, this ought to clarify things: The former head of World Wrestling Entertainment will travel to Washington to meet with National Republican Senatorial Committee Chairman John Cornyn. “I don't know what her message is going to be, but I sort of suspect she isn't finished,” Cornyn told

Linda McMahon’s Softer Side

Linda McMahon's campaign isn't just attack ads. She goes for a deep emotional connection in this one-minute ad. Democrat Richard Blumenthal is hanging on to his lead because of a strong lead among women. If McMahon can chip away at that foundation, then one of the all-time collapses in modern politics will be complete . . . Jim Geraghty

Obviously, Linda McMahon still trails. But if this ad can't close the gap, I'm not sure what can. It's not loud, it's not garish, it's not over the top. It just uses Dick Blumenthal's meandering words to confirm what I'll bet many Connecticut folks suspect: Just as you wouldn't prefer a businesswoman to run a D.A.'s office,

The DSCC Is Spending Nearly $2 Million in Connecticut?

On October 6, 2010, in Uncategorized, by If Bush Did It

Wow. A Republican close to the NRSC sends along this word: The DSCC has for months now insisted that the Connecticut Senate contest is firmly within the Democratic column. And for a time the polling validated that rhetoric. The problem for the committee, now, is that both polling and their spending betrays that notion. After reserving roughly $500,000 in television advertising a couple days ago, the DSCC added yesterday $1.2 million to its ad buy for the remaining three weeks, according to the

If you want to take a Fox News/Pulse Opinion Research poll with a grain of salt, you're free to make that choice. But they're not showing monolithically good news for Republicans. But where they do see good news, it's quite good: West Virginia A new Fox News battleground state poll on the race for the seat held by the late Sen.

One of my readers watches this Linda McMahon ad and declares, “pile-driver.” I'm waiting for the metaphorical folding-chair-over-the-head, myself. The 2003 footage is new. Jim Geraghty

If you're pulling for a Republican Senate majority, you have to love the McMahon campaign's momentum. It's like watching the tortoise and the hare. Quinnipiac:
