‘Occupy CPAC’ Protester Paid $60 a Day

On February 10, 2012, in Uncategorized, by joshuapousts

**Written by Doug Powers The Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is underway in Washington, DC. Naturally, OWS protesters are there to greet conference-goers and to roll out a welcome mat made of astroturf. Michelle Fields from the Daily Caller caught up with a demonstrator who claims he’s being paid. Not only does the guy in the video below say that a union local is paying him $60 a day to “Occupy” CPAC, but he also claims everybody in his group is being paid. Some are clueless as to what it is they’re protesting (note: if the video below isn’t loading try this link ) : Does $60 a day meet or exceed Occupy’s “living wage” demand ? If you’re in need of a little cheap afternoon entertainment, check out Jim Treacher’s Occupy CPAC Hippiecam . **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

**Written by Doug Powers In the past few months and years, President Obama has castigated Super PACs. Obama has said “you can’t be against Super PACs one day and for them the next,” and he’s referred to 527s as a “threat to democracy.” Fortunately, Nancy Pelosi is here to help explain why these same threats to democracy, when reluctantly utilized by the pure of heart in emergency situations, can also be used to help preserve democracy. Here’s a brief transcript of Pelosi’s explanation by way of The Right Scoop : The president made a decision which I think was a wise one that he was not going to unilaterally disarm and leave the field to the Koch brothers to decide who would be POTUS and who would control the Congress. Maybe Pelosi’s right — it’s straight from Sun Tzu: “To know your enemy, you must become your enemy.” Of course, they didn’t have Super PACs in Sun Tzu’s day, which might explain why the book isn’t called “The Art of Hypocrisy”: **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Concrete Evidence Man is Causing Glacier Retreat

On February 2, 2012, in Uncategorized, by RomieObriant368

**Written by Doug Powers For a long time I wasn’t convinced that glacier shrinkage was part of a natural earth-sun cycle and not caused by anything man was doing, but I stand corrected : Police in Chile have arrested a man on suspicion of stealing five tonnes of ice from the Jorge Montt glacier in the Patagonia region to sell as designer ice cubes in bars and restaurants. Local media reported that last Friday police intercepted a refrigerated truck with an estimated £3,900 worth of illicit ice allegedly bound for whiskies, rums and cocktails in the capital Santiago. Authorities have accused the driver of theft and are considering adding violation of national monuments to the charge sheet. Scientists say Jorge Montt, part of the Bernardo O’Higgins national park, is retreating by half a mile a year, making it one of the world’s fastest shrinking glaciers. Add that to the list of causes . **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Obama Deploys New Slogan

On January 21, 2012, in barack obama, Uncategorized, by TiredOfIt

**Written by Doug Powers If this doesn’t work, the backup slogan is “Please!?” From ABC News : Barack Obama campaigned for president four years ago promising “change we can believe in.” Now, he’s running for a second term touting the ways that “change is.” The emerging slogan for the 2012 campaign, on display during a high-profile New York City fundraiser Thursday night, thrusts Obama’s social and domestic policy achievements to the forefront of his re-election pitch. And its appearance on new Obama-Biden campaign merchandise and apparel suggests the “change is” meme will likely be here to stay. “Change Is” beat out “Hope Was” and “Yes We Tried.” **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

**Written by Doug Powers While many of us are distracted by GOP primary season, something more expensive is about to happen. The request for a $1.2 trillion debt ceiling increase was delayed for various reasons over the holiday break, but all good things must come to an end : The Obama administration will be asking Congress to raise the debt limit in the coming days, White House press secretary Jay Carney said on Tuesday. “I’m confident it will be executed in a matter of days, not weeks,” he told reporters. The notification by the administration — which had been scheduled for last month — was delayed because Congress has been holding only pro forma sessions. Why wouldn’t the President just wait until Congress goes to lunch or run to the john so as to justify a “recess debt ceiling increase”? After all, we can’t wait . Maybe I shouldn’t give them any ideas. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

**Written by Doug Powers Nothing new here, but it’s good to know that to try to win back the gavel in 2012, Nancy Pelosi plans to employ the same strategy that cost her the gavel in 2010: “I simply will not have us engage in a this, that, last August, 10 years ago. This is about here and now, and the highly unusual circumstance that we are in because the Republican failed policies, economic policies, of President George Bush took us to a financial meltdown, took us into near-depression, took us into deep deficits that we still have to deal with. Are they just too tired to come to work? I hope not.” Pelosi’s excuses are like Nick at Nite’s primetime schedule … nothing but reruns: **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Charlotte Occupiers Break Away, Form Offshoot Group

On January 3, 2012, in Uncategorized, by LowekKohatsu683

**Written by Doug Powers That didn’t take long . I hope they realize this will cost them the chance to help carry the octopus at next year’s Rose Parade: A day after Occupy Charlotte’s three-month anniversary, nine members of the group announced plans to form a new organization, the People’s Coalition of the Carolinas. The move came three days after four men were arrested at Old City Hall where Occupy Charlotte has been camping since Oct. 8, a week after it formed. The men were arrested after allegedly setting fire to two American flags that had flanked the OC information desk. An explanation of the decision: Remember, that’s the People’s Coalition of the Carolinas. When asking to join, do not confuse that with the Carolina People’s Coalition (language warning) : (h/t Sister Toldjah via Twitter ) **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe
