Help Wanted: Personal Assistant to the President
**Written by Doug Powers Based on that headline, you might be wondering if Brian Williams is retiring . No, but a different personal assistant — this one based at the White House — is calling it quits. Reggie Love will be leaving at the end of the year : Reggie Love, the former Duke basketball player who has been a constant presence by Obama’s side since the 2008 presidential campaign, will depart the White House by the end of the year, a person familiar with his decision said. Love, 30, is the latest in a string of longtime Obama aides to leave the White House this year, including senior adviser David Axelrod, press secretary Robert Gibbs, deputy press secretary Bill Burton and deputy communications director Jen Psaki. All were part of Obama’s team since at least since the 2008 race. If you’d like to try and get the gig, the compensation package is in the neighborhood of $100,000 a year . Frequent meal stops , paid vacations , and freedom from the hassles of commercial airlines are included. Here’s a partial list of job duties for those thinking about applying: His job requirements have included everything from carrying copies of the president’s speeches, his iPod, and a steady supply of gum, newspapers and aspirin, to taking photos for audience members as they shook the president’s hand. Wherever the president goes, Love has rarely been more than a few steps behind. Love was lucky in that in 2008 and 2009 the MSM voluntarily carried Obama’s water, so the workload was lightened just a bit. Whether or not the next personal assistant gets the same help remains to be seen. Apply here . Teleprompter repair and maintenance experience required. Better than average top-of-the-key jumper a plus. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

**Written by Doug Powers Back in January, Michelle reminded us that Robert Gibbs was leaving the White House, but not leaving leaving. Starting tonight through late next year we’ll probably be seeing more of him than ever : WASHINGTON (AP) – Former White House press secretary Robert Gibbs will defend President Barack Obama in New Hampshire on Monday, countering criticism at a Republican presidential debate in the nation’s first primary state. Campaign officials said Gibbs will appear in network and local affiliate television interviews connected to the debate, an early forum for the Republican presidential field. Obama’s stewardship of the economy, reform of the nation’s health care system and handling of wars in Afghanistan, Iraq and Libya are all expected to draw fire from the Republican field. In the next 17 months, Mr. Fibbs… er, I mean Gibbs … will be tagging the GOP field around the early primary states like that guy in Happy Gilmore who a rival golfer hired to follow Happy around the course and yell “jackass” during his backswing. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Obama Holding Facebook Townhall a Possible Sign Robert Gibbs’ Job Interview Went Well
**Written by Doug Powers Late last month, the New York Times reported that President Obama’s former press secretary Robert Gibbs was in talks to join Mark Zuckerberg’s company to manage communications and perhaps help fertilize Michelle Obama’s Facebook garden. Reading about Gibbs’ possible new gig, I figured Team Obama must be foaming at the mouth at the prospect of having a highly placed and dedicated Hope & Change agent working at a company with direct access to millions of people online, as well as their friends, family, high school acquaintances and Texas Hold’em pals. As far as I know, Gibbs doesn’t even officially have the gig yet, but it’s possible this is an indicator that he does — or it could just be a coincidence: President Obama will be expanding his town-hall-style sessions to the next frontier, White House officials said on Tuesday: Facebook. Mr. Obama will hold a town-hall-style meeting with Facebook’s chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, on April 20, while the president is on a trip to California , his aides said. The session will be conducted from Facebook headquarters in Palo Alto, and will be streamed live. I just “friended” Obama’s teleprompter in the hopes of getting a preview of the content of the townhall. If Obama answers most questions by referring everybody to “the article in the New York Times,” we’ll know Gibbs has secured the Facebook gig. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Obama Refers to Himself as ‘The Gipper’
**Written by Doug Powers At what point do jelly beans make an appearance on the Oval Office desk? Real Clear Politics : President Obama recounts an anecdote about the 2004 Democratic National Convention at White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs’ final press briefing: “The most challenging problem was what tie to wear. And this went up to the very last minute. I mean, 10 minutes before we were about to go on stage we were still having an argument about ties. I had bought five, six ties. And Michelle didn’t like any of them, Axelrod didn’t like a couple of them — him being one of the best dressed men in the world. So we really valued his opinion. “And then somebody — I don’t remember who it was — turned and said, ‘You know what? What about Gibbs’ tie? What about Gibbs’ tie? That might look good.’ And, frankly, Robert didn’t want to give it up because he thought he looked really good in the tie. But eventually he was willing to take one for the gipper, and so he took off his tie, and I put it on. And that’s the tie that I wore at the national convention.” Video by way of The Blaze : Ten bucks says that Obama uses the phrase “There you go again” in a 2012 debate. Update: Some on Twitter are noting the difference between “win one for The Gipper” and “ take one for The Gipper.” **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Transparency Update: Reporters Shut Out of START Treaty Signing
**Written by Doug Powers A few days ago it was announced that one of the main duties of Robert Gibbs’ replacement Jay Carney would be to “mend dysfunctional relationships” with the White House Press Corps. I don’t know when all that’s supposed to start, but it certainly didn’t start with the signing of START : President Obama signed one of his top foreign-policy priorities Wednesday, and set off a row with the White House press corps in the process. The White House Correspondents Association (WHCA) sharply criticized Mr. Obama‘s decision to sign the New START nuclear-arms pact with Russia in a private Oval Office ceremony with virtually all of the press barred from the event. Somehow though Joe Biden managed to get in . Andrew Malcolm on who was allowed in and why they wanted to be there : In attendance were a handful of senators who always seem to show up for these things to get a free pen. Now, why would an event the administration classifies as a crowning achievement be closed to the press? So the snickering from afar couldn’t be caught on tape? **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe
