**Written by Doug Powers That didn’t take long . I hope they realize this will cost them the chance to help carry the octopus at next year’s Rose Parade: A day after Occupy Charlotte’s three-month anniversary, nine members of the group announced plans to form a new organization, the People’s Coalition of the Carolinas. The move came three days after four men were arrested at Old City Hall where Occupy Charlotte has been camping since Oct. 8, a week after it formed. The men were arrested after allegedly setting fire to two American flags that had flanked the OC information desk. An explanation of the decision: Remember, that’s the People’s Coalition of the Carolinas. When asking to join, do not confuse that with the Carolina People’s Coalition (language warning) : (h/t Sister Toldjah via Twitter ) **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

**Written by Doug Powers When it comes to political menopause, John McCain leads the pack in hot flash mood swings. He’s drafted amnesty bills with Ted Kennedy; chosen Sarah Palin as his running mate; insulted the Tea Party ; done 180 degree election year turnarounds to appease conservatives; and now he’s kinda-sorta down with Occupy Wall Street : The 2008 GOP presidential nominee said he understands the growing protest movement’s concerns over Washington bailouts of major financial institutions. “Down in Arizona today, Maricopa County has the highest number of homes underwater of any place in this country,” he told reporters Wednesday. “And it’s disgraceful that we took care of the financial institutions, and we did nothing about the housing crisis. So I understand their frustration.” He later quipped that he may be the “only” Republican does. So what’s McCain saying? That he’s partly responsible for Occupy Wall Street because of his vote for TARP , or because he’s part of the one percent ? I’ve seen plenty of interviews with the Occupiers, and I’m not sure I’ve heard any of the “Birkenstocks on the ground” foot soldiers mention the subprime crisis as being what motivated them to show up. Sister Toldjah has a little more on the kind of frustration that McCain understands. This guy didn’t mention the housing crisis as being a motivator either. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

John McCain Understands the Frustrations of ‘Occupy Wall Street’
Today’s Jolt features plenty of Obama deficit speech reaction and Rick Santorum kicking his presidential aspirations into a higher gear, but for now, the lighter topic, one that might make it tough to keep your eyes open this morning… Obama Speech Inspires Biden to Pursue Deep Meditation Falling asleep during an Obama speech is classic Joe Biden: he looks silly, unprofessional, mentally disengaged … and yet there’s something very honest about it (God knows how many presidential audiences over the years have fought off the urge) and there’s something endearing about his brief snooze. He is, indeed, our national crazy uncle. Lori Ziganto : “I really can’t blame him. I mean, Obama’s shtick really is super tiresome. The Greatest Orator Of All Time ™ is actually full of snooze. ABC’s
**Written by Doug Powers The gavel is gone, but the conceit lives on… From Politico : The Democratic National Committee wanted to honor Nancy Pelosi Thursday — but its praise wasn’t good enough for the House minority leader. When the DNC’s Resolutions Committee brought up a resolution commemorating Pelosi’s years as speaker of the House, Pelosi’s daughter sought to alter the proposal at her mother’s behest, adding some of the accomplishments that the elder Pelosi felt the committee had overlooked. “I have some friendly amendments,” said Christine Pelosi, a political strategist, at the committee’s session during the DNC Winter Meeting at the Marriott Wardman Park hotel Thursday afternoon. She is a member of the committee. “You think I’m kidding,” Christine Pelosi added, to surprised laughter from the room. The proposed changes, she indicated, came out of a discussion with her mother. The Committee really didn’t mind because it distracted Pelosi from noticing they forgot to remove the blue M&Ms from the bowl as the minority leader ordained. Sister Toldjah : No mention anywhere, though, of how many thousands of unborn babies have been terminated in San Francisco thanks to her decades-old tireless support of “women’s reproductive health rights” aka abortion. Well, she didn’t want to brag too much. That would have been in violation of “The Word.” **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

Pelosi the Most Humble
**Written by Doug Powers Every now and then, a politician goofs and reveals more than he or she intended, providing a window into the true motives or beliefs. Michigan’s John Dingell claiming that Obamacare is a peachy way to “control the people,” and President Obama saying that America is a world super power “whether we like it or not” are recent examples. Yesterday, Massachusetts Governer Deval Patrick let another cat out of the bag. Darn that freedom : Independent gubernatorial candidate Tim Cahill blasted Gov. Deval Patrick yesterday for appearing to suggest he wished America wasn’t as free so that last week’s Glenn Beck rally at the Lincoln Memorial where Martin Luther King Jr. once spoke would never have happened. “ It’s a free country. I wish it weren’t , but . . . it’s a free country,” Patrick said on the “Jim & Margery Show” on WTKK-FM. “You know, you got to, you got to respect that freedom.” “Psst, Dr. Freud… your slip is showing.” Here’s audio: (h/t Sister Toldjah ) **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

The Deval Made Him Say It: Glenn Beck’s Rally is the Downside of Freedom
**Written by Doug Powers Today is Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” gathering at the Lincoln Memorial (this is also the 47th anniversary of Martin Luther King Jr’s “I have a dream” speech, which you can watch here ). Beck partnered with the Special Operations Warrior Foundation to sponsor the event, which starts at 10 a.m. eastern, and you can watch it live on C-Span . You can watch live via Facebook here . MLK’s niece Alveda King will be there, as will Sarah Palin and many current and former members of the US military. We’re hearing a lot about people criticizing the timing of the event, calling it insensitive for having the rally on the anniversary of Dr. King’s speech — but since most of this criticism is coming from people who are calling critics of the ground zero area mosque over-sensitive, let’s move on. I couldn’t make it to DC today, but there are a few people attending who are sending photos my way, so I’ll use this space today to pass along any pictures or stories that may be of interest. Not to be outdone, of course, Al Sharpton has a counter-rally scheduled after Beck’s event around a reflecting puddle on Constitution Ave NW, and C-Span will carry that at noon. One person who Sharpton stood up for and defended not long ago will not be able to attend . There are long lines ( one example ) at DC area Metro stations. A while back, Bill O’Reilly reportedly told Glenn Beck that if he got over 100,000 people at today’s event, Beck needs to anchor his 8 p.m. time slot. Judging from this picture taken at 7:30 this morning I’d say Bill can go ahead and start sliding out of the way. A friend just emailed to say there are probably a couple hundred thousand people there already — which, after we run it through the MSM Tea Party Crowd Size Re-Estimator, comes to about 12,000. Here’s another picture from somebody there. Update: The live stream is up now: Update II: Uh-oh, in spite of hundreds of thousands of peaceful patriots converging on Washington who will probably leave the place as clean or cleaner than they found it, the MSM already has their lead story for tonight: Tea Party vandals invade nation’s capital Update III: Equal time — CNN’s live coverage of Al Sharpton’s rally . It’s a more intimate setting. Update IV: Via Sister Toldjah , the New York Times is already spinning this as the Tea Party “claiming MLK’s mantle.” They’re hardly “claiming” Dr. King’s mantle — but maybe sharing it. And isn’t that what King’s message was all about? Update V: Albert Pujols and Tony La Russa are there , but it was Palin who just hit it out of the park. Update VI: Crowd estimates . It’ll probably end up being higher than those numbers. Update whatever-the-next-Roman-numeral-is: Here’s a great aerial shot of the crowd . Update IXEIDXXVI: If anybody is looking for people who are “dishonoring” Dr. King’s memory today, unfortunately they’ll need look no further than the memorial to Dr. King , because the Code Pink harpies will be there: Also, 2,000-3,000 showed up for Sharpton’s rally. Wow, that means that only 1/2 of 1 percent of all the people at the two rallies weren’t racists. **Written by Doug Powers Twitter @ThePowersThatBe

What a post, from Sister Toldjah at RWN : Anti-war types like to claim they “support the troops but not the war.” I don’t think so, not when you consider how what they do almost always has negative, disastrous consequences for the those who volunteered to serve and to, in effect, take a bullet in the battlefield for all us back home in the name of freedom, even the contemptible armchair nitwits who have made it their mission to make their lives a living hell – at the risk of either injury and/or death. So no, these so-called “peace lovers” don’t support the troops, and they certainly do not give a rip about “peace.” They are the enemy. And I see very little difference in that type of enemy and the in-your-face enemy our troops face on the battlefield. RTWT . PREVIOUSLY : ” Pfc.
