Well, she wasn’t quite perfect, but far superior to anyone else in my opinion. See The Hill , ” Rep. Michele Bachmann thinks that America missed its opportunity with ‘the perfect candidate’ ,” and CNN, ” TRENDING: Bachmann says she was the ‘perfect candidate’ .” (Via Memeorandum .) I’m pictured with Congresswoman Bachmann last April at David Horowitz’s West Coast Retreat in Palos Verdes. She hadn’t announced her candidacy yet, but I was certain she’d be candidate and I backed her from the start. No, she wasn’t perfect. But I thought she best represented my interests in the race, and I do agree with her contention that no other candidate was as consistently opposed to President Obama and the ObamaCare debacle as she was.

Buried in the very last question of the Washington Post poll : “On another subject, what is your view of the Tea Party political movement — would you say you support it strongly, support it somewhat, oppose it somewhat or oppose it strongly?” The survey found 43 percent support the Tea Party movement (12 percent strongly, 31 percent somewhat) and 45 percent oppose it (20 percent somewhat, 25 percent strongly). Newt’s Bad Night

On February 5, 2012, in barack obama, Uncategorized, by ThresaFralin

I called him a sore loser, and Jonathan Tobin elaborated the point . Now here’s Victor Davis Hanson, ” Gingrich’s Speech — How to Make a Bad Night Worse ” (via Memeorandum ): Gingrich should carefully play a tape of his post–Nevada caucus performance, and then he would quickly grasp that it was little more than a litany of excuses, whining, and accusations — characterized by stream-of-conscious confessionals and rambling repetitions. And, I think, will hurt him more than anything yet in the campaign. And see Freedom’s Lighthouse, ” Newt Gingrich Slams Mitt Romney as “Fundamentally Dishonest” in Nevada Press Conference; Says He Can be Frontrunner Again by the April 3 Texas Primary – Complete Video 2/4/12 .”

Romney Wins With Wide GOP Support, Consolidates Momentum

On February 5, 2012, in Uncategorized, by WanderseeFontan338

At New York Times , ” Romney Scores Nevada Victory With Broad G.O.P. Support “: LAS VEGAS — Mitt Romney handily won the Nevada caucuses on Saturday, solidifying his status as the front-runner and increasing his momentum as he seeks to use the month of February to ease doubts within the Republican Party about his candidacy and begin confronting President Obama. Mr. Romney ran well ahead of his three opponents on a night that delivered his second decisive first-place finish in four days, following his victory in the Florida primary on Tuesday. He appeared elated as he took the stage at his election headquarters at the Red Rock Casino hotel here, kissing his wife, Ann, who reminded the crowd that Nevada would be important in the general election, and hugging his sons before delivering a speech geared toward the fall. “This is not the first time you’ve given me your vote of confidence, and this time I’m going to take it to the White House,” he said as the crowd chanted his name. And he delivered a harsh critique of Mr. Obama: “This week he’s been trying to take a bow for 8.3 percent unemployment. Not so fast, Mr. President.” Nevada offers only a sliver of the delegates needed to win the Republican nomination, making it more of a symbolic triumph than a practical one. But it gave Mr. Romney an important opportunity to make a more assertive case that the party is finally coming together behind him. It also gave him an advantage in his attempt to dispatch his chief Republican rival, Newt Gingrich, through the contests this week in Colorado, Minnesota and Maine. The Romney victory further deflated the once-vital challenge posed by Mr. Gingrich, girding for a rough few weeks of political weather during which Mr. Romney is expected to do well. But Mr. Gingrich, who remained defiant on Saturday, hopes to revive his chances with stronger showings in the 11 states that vote on March 6, “Super Tuesday.” Far from competing with Mr. Romney here in Nevada on Saturday, results showed that Mr. Gingrich was vying to place a distant second to Mr. Romney against Representative Ron Paul of Texas. She’s talking about “clobbering” Obama in a debate, and by implication in the general election. Palin says GOP voters should take that into consideration in the primaries. And this is pretty much a Palin endorsement for Gingrich, which has been mostly unarticulated at this point, but see C4P, ” Governor Palin’s Clarion Call: “Rage Against the Machine…Vote for Newt!” ”

Final Blizzard of Appeals in South Carolina

On January 21, 2012, in barack obama, Uncategorized, by prsnlinjurys

At New York Times , ” South Carolina Fray Upsets a Smooth Path for Romney “: After arriving here last week fresh off of what seemed to be two victories in a row in Iowa and New Hampshire, Mr. Romney was suddenly confronting the prospect of leaving here as the winner of only one of the first three nominating contests. Having been stripped of his victory in Iowa on Thursday after a recount that gave the state to Rick Santorum, Mr. Romney now is in danger of being defeated in Saturday’s primary here by Newt Gingrich, who had been declared dead not once but twice in the past year, including less than two weeks ago when he finished fifth in New Hampshire. A new Clemson University poll of South Carolina voters released on Friday showed Mr. Gingrich with a six-point lead over Mr. Romney. At this stage of a primary election, campaigns work hard to manage expectations in order to put the best possible face on the actual voting results; Mr. Romney’s aides were no doubt being mindful of that as they spoke in relatively gloomy tones. But, as Mr. Romney faced intensive attacks from all sides, renewed questions about the effects of his own stumbles and whether he is conservative enough for the grass roots of his party, there was a real aura of apprehension coursing through his campaign. With his prospects of wrapping the race up quickly apparently diminished, Mr. Romney and his strategists began preparing his staff, his supporters and his network of high-dollar financial bundlers for a longer and rougher march toward the nomination. “I said from the very beginning, South Carolina is an uphill battle for a guy from Massachusetts,” Mr. Romney told reporters who traveled with him to Gilbert on Friday, a stark shift in tenor from his more buoyant demeanor a few days ago. “I knew that. We’re battling hard. The fact is that right now it looks like it’s neck and neck; that’s a pretty good spot to be in.” Continue reading .

Haley Taking Flak for Romney Endorsement

On December 17, 2011, in barack obama, Uncategorized, by jessicamounst

At Politico , ” Nikki Haley’s Mitt Romney endorsement catches flak “: GREENVILLE, S.C. – Nikki Haley’s attempt to boost Mitt Romney is threatening her own support here at home. Romney’s campaign is using the South Carolina governor’s endorsement to build his acceptance among the tea party base that’s never been comfortable with his candidacy, especially in a state where Newt Gingrich has been running even stronger than elsewhere. But the people in that base who propelled Haley to the governor’s mansion last year see the endorsement of the more moderate Romney as abandoning them — and giving them another reason to turn away from a governor whose approval rating has dropped to 34.6 percent. Immediately after Haley announced her support Friday morning on “Fox and Friends,” her Facebook page lit up with accusations that the first-term governor was selling out her principles. Rush Limbaugh followed with a blistering broadside against her on his radio show Friday, leading a charge of conservatives nationally, in addition to locally, who accused her of selling out. Tea party leaders in the state suggested that Haley will pay for Friday’s move with a primary in 2014 – provided she doesn’t win herself a spot on the ticket or another post in a Romney administration, as tea partiers and Republican operatives say must be the explanation for the decision. “The overwhelming sense that I get from talking to people is deep betrayal,” said Karen Martin, the founder and organizer of the Spartanburg tea party, who has not endorsed a candidate. “She’s not going to be able to come back from this with the tea party. If there’s anybody credible who will run against her, I believe the tea party will support them whole-heartedly.” I’ll have more on this later. I’m kinda surprised by the endorsement as well, except as one of Romney’s perceived electability. Via Memeorandum . The Obama administration challenged the legislation, and a ruling favoring Arizona could hand the president a huge election-year defeat. At Los Angeles Times , ” Supreme Court may weigh in on Arizona immigration law “: The court has already agreed to decide whether the Obama healthcare law is constitutional. If it takes the immigration case as well, both decisions probably would come down by late June, just months before the presidential nominating conventions. The Case for Michele Bachmann

On December 8, 2011, in Uncategorized, by arlenschumer

From Daren Jonescu, at Canada Free Press : ” Michele Bachmann is the clearest conservative voice in the primaries. She is the most legitimate representative of the Tea Party in this process .” Hey, I can dig it. And yes, it is pretty freakin’ sick for a lesbian parent to send her 8 year-old boy up to Congresswomen Bachmann to say “my mommy doesn’t need any fixin’.” But the gay rights extremists see this as a great chance to get some hate in against the EVIL!!! conservatives: ” Watch: Michele Bachmann On Glenn Beck Calls 8 Year Old Boy’s Act ‘Shameless’ .”
