Typically, our “caption that protester” feature is of an actual protester as seen in front of the White House. This time is a little different. While these people were gathered in front of the White House, they didn’t appear to be protesting. Pictured here is one of them wearing a cloak and possibly holding a wand. Definitely picking her nose. But for the sake of consistency, caption that protester! (We’ll pick the winners tomorrow)

At LA Weekly , ” Los Angeles Charities and Minority Groups Tell United Teachers Los Angeles and LAUSD: ‘Don’t Hold Us Back’ ” (via Instapundit ). Ten years ago, most of these people would have been extremely reluctant to call out UTLA. That would have been seen as anti-union. But with Los Angeles kids circling the drain (and remember the frightening fact that LAUSD educates one in every eight or nine kids in all of California) and with the union fighting most attempts at change, those days seem over. At my college, my head hurts sometimes when the union pushes positions that harm students, but you can’t get a word in edgewise. After a while, you don’t even try. Hopefully the “Don’t Hold Us Back” coalition will have an impact.

I would be harsher on these people, but given how thoroughly Obama has been in bed with Wall Street, and vice versa, it’s hard for me to get very excited. And this just in at DNAinfo, ” Occupy Wall Street Protesters Arrested on Brooklyn Bridge .” And New York Post, ” Wall St. protesters shut down Brooklyn Bridge .” Yeah, that’s gonna build a lot of support for the movement: One irate driver, a Ground Zero construction worker, blasted the pedestrians. “I work my ass off all day, and these goddamned hippies close down the Brooklyn Bridge so I can’t get home?” he said. “This ain’t right!”
