After taking office and consulting with advisers in December 2009, Obama added 33,000 troops to the forces already in Afghanistan to quell growing violence and Taliban advances. Nearly 10 years into the war brought on by Osama bin Laden’s 9/11 attacks, the American public is growing weary of the seemingly endless war, wants the troops home, and wants to stop spending so much money overseas.
