PETA Suing Sea World, Claims Whales Are “Slaves”

On February 8, 2012, in Uncategorized, by Richard Riker

Back in October, I brought you a quick bite story about how PETA planned to get killer whales constitutional rights, saying that keeping them violated the 13th Amendment (slavery). The lawsuit against Sea World has now gone to a judge (LA Times) A federal judge appeared dubious Monday about a lawsuit filed by People for the

This clip from Neil Cavuto ‘s Fox News program “Your World” aired last Friday, but it wasn’t available to share at the time. In his “Common Sense” segment, Cavuto pulled news media personalities by the hair for dismissing Donald Trump while simultaneously hanging on to his every word. This was just after Trump had endorsed Mitt Romney to be the Republican nominee for president. “They covered Trump live. He didn’t ask them to cover him live. They made it a spectacle, he didn’t make it a spectacle,” Cavuto said. “They called him showman but not a one of them admitted Donald Trump was good for their show, actually very good for their show, all of their shows.” Cavuto is generally right. Trump is a walking headline. I write about him frequently (see here , here and here ). And he is all too readily dismissed by figures in the media as a carnival barker without the slightest acknowledgement that that’s the very thing that attracts their attention. Let me be the first: Trump is a total crank. But yes, I’ll write about him the next time he opens his perpetually pursed mouth anyway. Watch: Watch the latest video at video.foxnews.com

The first draft of the Clint Eastwood-narrated Chrysler Super Bowl ad. (Note: Axelrod says we’re going to need to make some revisions.): SCRIPT: It’s halftime. Both teams are in their locker room discussing what they can do to win this game. But we’re thinking about the president. Because it’s halftime in America, too. People are out of work, and they’re hurting. And they’re all wondering what a bunch of politicians who can double the debt without passing a budget will do to save the economy. And we’re all scared because this isn’t a game. Because we don’t know what to do without Ray LaHood’s wisdom. Because it just wouldn’t be 2012 without a vapid campaign ad masquerading as a patriotic car spot ruining one of the very few non-politicized events left in the country. Hey, you and I know this country can’t be knocked out with one punch. It could take at least two four-year terms of punches to get the job done. Usually, though, we get right back up, administration after administration. And next time we get up, the world is going to hear the roar, er, the hum, of a 400-pound battery charged with coal-powered electricity — at approximately 40 miles a pop, if you’re really lucky. So what really matters now is what’s ahead. Stop harping on the misery of the past few years. How do we come from behind? How do we come together? And how do we win? Isn’t the answer obvious? Import Detroit. As you know, the people of Detroit know a little something about ruin. They almost lost everything. After decades of mismanagement, they needed help. So Democrats pulled the nation out of its ugly and clingy selfishness, and now Motor City is fighting again. Did I mention we sold, like, 281 Volts last month alone? Not too shabby, considering you already paid for them. Detroit’s showing us how it can be done. Nothing says winner like Detroit. And nothing says Detroit like unsustainable union pensions, a fleeing workforce and compact cars that would cost more than 100K without federal subsidies. It’s us against the world. So take that, China. And you, too, nonunion Honda assembly plant in Alabama. You know what? I’ve seen a lot of tough eras, a lot of downturns in my life (“Pink Cadillac,” “Honkytonk Man,” “J. Edgar”). It’s true; there were times when we didn’t understand each other. Other times, it seems as if we’ve lost our heart (2010 midterms). But when the GOP fog of division, discord and blame made it so that we had to deal with unnecessary partisan squabbling, He acted. And if we don’t reward failure, who will? So it’s time to divide the nation by the 1s and 99s, by filthy despicable rich and decent folk. It’s time to find a common adversary. It’s time to be almost united. Because through all our tribulations, we’ve rallied around what was right (except during the 2010 midterms). Because freedom isn’t worth anything if you don’t fall in line. In the past, we’ve fought wars together and we’ve built wondrous highway systems (which we really shouldn’t be using so much, by the way). Today we continue that tradition by handing favored corporations taxpayer-funded cash giveaways so that cronies can sell out to Italian car manufacturers. Yeah, it’s halftime, America. And our second half’s about to begin. Thank you, Mr. President. ———————————————————— Follow @ davidharsanyi

Screenshot of the defaced law firm's website. The firm has since taken the site down until further notice.

Adding to its most recent stint of revenge on organizations like the FBI and the Boston Police Department , the hacker collective Anonymous has infiltrated the website of a law firm that defended a U.S. Marine who killed 24 Iraqi citizens in 2005. Gizmodo reports that seven years ago, then Sergeant Frank Wuterich along with other Marines killed two dozen in Haditha, Iraq, in retaliation for an IED strike. Wuterich admitted to the killings and last week was charged with “negligent dereliction of duty” but did not receive any jail time or other punishment. Now, Anonymous is fighting what it believe is an injustice by attacking  Puckett & Faraj , the firm that defended Wuterich. The firm’s website is currently dysfunctional and Anonymous threatens having a host of private information that it will be releasing. Here’s what Anonymous wrote (via Gizmod0): We went ahead and fired off some shots of our own — at the servers and personal email accounts of Puckett & Faraj. We defaced their website and dumped nearly 3GB of private email messages belonging to Neal Puckett and Haytham Faraj. The contents of these email messages include detailed records, transcripts, testimony, trial evidence, and legal defense donation records pertaining to not only Frank Wuterich but also many other marines they have represented. And to add a few layers of icing to this delicious caek, we got the usual boatloads of embarrassing personal information. How do you think the world will react when they find out Neal Puckett and his marine buddies have been making crude jokes about the incident where marines have been caught on video pissing on dead bodies in Afghanistan? Or that he regularly corresponds with and receives funding from former marine Don Greenlaw who runs the racist blog http://snooper.wordpress.com? We believe it is time to release all of their private information and court evidence to the world and conduct a People’s trial of our own. Gizmodo reports that a source within the hacker collective told them that all the attacks today (Related: Read about how Anonymous hacked into the FBI’s conference call) are coordinated but have their own “particular motivations.” Anonymous has also reportedly attacked the Texas Police Association’s website, Salt Lake City police and Greece’s justice ministry. Gizmodo also states that when they called Puckett & Faraj, the firm didn’t known it had been hacked yet.

Reuters – The Obama administration on Thursday played down Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s comments that the United States could end its combat role in Afghanistan next year, remarks that surprised allies in Europe and Kabul, as well as U.S. lawmakers.

This was one of those neck-snapping moments of TV viewing. As Herman Cain took the stage in Florida to fire up a crowd of Newt Gingrich supporters, he took the mic and said this… Shucky Ducky? Seriously? In case you did not know about Shucky Ducky. That’s actually the name and half of the catch phrase of a comic. Here’s the actual comic doing his act for a fashion show… Shucky Ducky is not alone in the world of “Catch Phrase Comedy.”  Larry the Cable Guy has made a healthy living shouting “Git’er done!” And Jeff Foxworthy is anything but a Redneck for his use of “You Might Be A Redneck…” SNL even thought the phenomenon was worthy of a sketch.
